Webflow gives Enterprise teams a larger and more flexible CMS foundation


Webflow’s next-gen CMS is a backend re-architecture designed for larger, more complex, and more content-rich websites. The update is especially interesting for web designers because it expands how structured content can be modeled, reused, and displayed inside dynamic layouts.


For template creators, agencies, and enterprise web teams, this is a meaningful shift. A CMS is not only where content is stored; it shapes how websites scale, how page patterns are reused, how structured data is connected, and how easily teams can build experiences that are readable by both people and AI systems.



What changes in Webflow’s next-gen CMS


For Enterprise customers, Webflow says the new CMS architecture doubles CMS storage, supports more complex data relationships, and allows up to 100 fields per Collection with 20 reference or multi-reference fields per Collection. Enterprise sites can also scale to more than one million total CMS items per site, depending on plan agreement.


The update also increases the number of CMS items that can live in a single Collection, allowing teams to place up to one million CMS items in one Collection. That can simplify large content models, reduce fragmented structures, and make it easier for teams to manage data-rich websites from a central CMS foundation.


New flexibility for dynamic web design


For designers, the most exciting part is expanded design flexibility with CMS content. Webflow now supports up to 40 Collection lists per page, up to 10 nested Collection lists per page, 100 items per nested list, and multi-level nesting up to three layers deep.


This gives web teams more room to design richer directory pages, catalog layouts, resource hubs, customer stories, product pages, and content-heavy landing pages without relying on as many workarounds. Dynamic layouts can pull more related content into reusable templates, which is great for consistency and faster publishing.


The update also connects directly to AEO. Webflow argues that brands need more structured and context-rich content so answer engines can understand products, expertise, use cases, and relationships across a site. A more flexible CMS can help designers build pages that are visually clear and semantically useful.
